❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What are Romano Peppers?

Romano peppers are long, slender sweet peppers with thinner walls than many traditional bell peppers. They’re particularly popular for roasting and Mediterranean-style cooking.

Are Romano Peppers hot?

Generally, no. Romano peppers are sweet peppers rather than hot chillies and are prized for their mild, naturally sweet flavour.

Can you eat Romano Peppers raw?

Absolutely. They’re delicious raw and have a sweet flavour with a crisp, juicy texture.

Are Romano Peppers good for roasting?

Yes. Roasting is one of the best ways to prepare them because the heat intensifies their natural sweetness and creates soft, lightly caramelised flesh.

Can you stuff Romano Peppers?

Yes. Their long shape is excellent for stuffing with ingredients such as rice, couscous, quinoa, minced meat, lentils or cheese.

Do I need to peel Romano Peppers?

No. Their skin is completely edible. If heavily roasting or charring them, however, you can remove the loosened skin afterwards if you prefer a softer texture.

How should Romano Peppers be stored?

Keep fresh peppers refrigerated and use while they’re still firm, glossy and crisp.

Can Romano Peppers be frozen?

Yes. Wash, deseed and slice them before freezing. Frozen peppers are particularly useful for cooked dishes such as sauces, soups, curries and stir-fries.
