Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh okra, trimmed and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley) for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Rinse and trim the ends. Slice into 1/2-inch pieces.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4.  Stir in the minced garlic and cumin, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced okra to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the okra is tender but still vibrant.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice, if using. Toss to combine.
