Lemon Description:
This fruit is a round, slightly elongated fruit, it has a strong and resistant skin, with an intense bright yellow colour when it is totally ripe, giving off a special aroma when it is cut. The pulp is pale yellow, juicy and acid, divided in gores. The juice of the lemon is about 5% to 6% citric acid, which gives lemons a sour taste. The distinctive sour taste of lemon juice makes it a key ingredient in drinks and foods such as lemonade. The origin of the lemon is unknown, though lemons are thought to have first grown in Assam (a region in northeast India), northern Myanmar or China and few countries in Europe.
Health Benefits:
Lemons are an excellent source of vitamin C and flavonoids, which are antioxidants. Antioxidants help remove free radicals that can damage cells from the body. These nutrients can help prevent diseases and boost health and wellbeing. Lemons contain about 50 milligrams of vitamin C, which is over half the amount of vitamin C needed in your daily diet. Vitamin C also helps your body make collagen for your skin, helps your body absorb iron, and supports your immune system.
