Preparing rainbow chard is quick and simple.

1️⃣ Wash

Wash thoroughly under cold running water, paying particular attention around the stems.

2️⃣ Trim

Remove the very bottom of the stalks if necessary.

3️⃣ Separate

Separate the thicker colourful stems from the leafy tops.

4️⃣ Chop

Slice the stems into smaller pieces and roughly chop the leaves.

5️⃣ Cook the Stems First

The stems take slightly longer to soften.

  • 🌈 1 bunch Fresh Rainbow Chard
  • 🫒 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 🧄 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 🍋 Juice of ½ lemon
  • 🧂 Salt
  • 🌶️ Freshly ground black pepper
  • 🌶️ Chilli flakes – optional

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Wash the rainbow chard thoroughly.
  2. Separate the stems from the leaves.
  3. Slice the stems and roughly chop the leaves.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan.
  5. Add the stems and cook for approximately 3 minutes.
  6. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

🛒 Ingredients – Serves 2–3

  • 250g pasta 🍝
  • 1 bunch Fresh Rainbow Chard 🌈
  • 2 garlic cloves 🧄
  • 150ml single cream
  • 40g grated Parmesan 🧀
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Pinch of chilli flakes – optional 🌶️
  • Squeeze of lemon – optional 🍋

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions.
  2. Reserve a small cup of pasta water before draining.
  3. Separate and chop the chard stems and leaves.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan.
  5. Cook the stems for 3–4 minutes.
