🥕 Fresh Parsnips | Sweet, Nutty & Versatile Root Vegetable
🥕 Fresh Parsnips
Our Fresh Parsnips are a classic root vegetable with creamy-white flesh and a wonderfully sweet, earthy and slightly nutty flavour.
Closely associated with traditional British cooking, parsnips develop a beautifully soft centre and delicious caramelised edges when roasted. Their natural sweetness makes them particularly good alongside roast potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables.
But they’re capable of much more than a Sunday roast. Mash them with potatoes, blend them into creamy soups, add them to casseroles and stews or turn them into crispy roasted parsnip chips.
Sweet, comforting and incredibly versatile — a proper kitchen favourite. 🥕✨

❓ Fresh Parsnip FAQs
What do parsnips taste like?
Parsnips have a naturally sweet, earthy flavour with subtle nutty notes. Roasting makes them sweeter and creates delicious caramelised edges.
Do parsnips need to be peeled?
Not always. Young parsnips can simply be thoroughly scrubbed. Larger or older parsnips are often better peeled before cooking.
Can you eat parsnips raw?
Yes, although they’re much more commonly cooked. Raw parsnip can be finely grated or sliced into salads and slaws.
Can parsnips be roasted?
Absolutely. Roasting is one of the best ways to cook parsnips because it concentrates their natural sweetness.
What herbs go well with parsnips?
Thyme, rosemary, parsley and sage all work beautifully.
Parsnips also pair particularly well with honey, mustard, garlic and warming spices.
Can you freeze parsnips?
Yes. Parsnips can be prepared and blanched before freezing. Cooked parsnip mash and soup can also be frozen.
How should fresh parsnips be stored?
Keep them refrigerated, ideally in the vegetable drawer, and use while they’re firm and fresh.
