🍐 Fresh Conference Pears – Sweet, Juicy & Naturally Delicious

Our Fresh Juicy Conference Pears are a classic fruit-bowl favourite with naturally sweet flavour, juicy flesh and a delicate pear aroma.

Recognisable by their long shape, green-brown skin and characteristic natural russeting, Conference Pears are delicious at different stages of ripeness.

Enjoy them slightly firm for a crisper, refreshing bite, or allow them to ripen until the flesh becomes softer, sweeter and beautifully succulent.

They’re fantastic eaten fresh, sliced over breakfast, paired with cheese and walnuts, or used for baking, poaching and homemade desserts.

Naturally sweet. Beautifully juicy. A classic everyday pear. 🍐✨

🍐 About Fresh Juicy Conference Pears

Conference Pears are a popular European pear variety recognised by their elongated shape and distinctive green skin with natural brown russeting.

Our Fresh Juicy Conference Pears continue to change in texture as they ripen.

🔪 Preparing Fresh Juicy Conference Pears

Conference Pears require very little preparation.

  1. Wash thoroughly under cool running water.
  2. Pat dry.
  3. Eat whole around the core or slice the pear.
  4. To prepare for recipes, cut lengthways into quarters.
  5. Remove the central core and seeds.
  6. Slice, dice or leave in halves depending on your recipe.
  7. The skin is edible and can be left on.

🍐 Fruit Bowl Tip – Checking Ripeness

Rather than squeezing the middle of the pear, gently press around the neck near the stalk.

If it yields slightly to gentle pressure, it’s generally becoming ready to eat.

If it’s still very firm, leave it at room temperature to continue ripening.

❓ Conference Pear FAQs

What do Conference Pears taste like?

How do I know when a Conference Pear is ripe?
Gently press near the neck beside the stalk. If it gives slightly, the pear is generally becoming ready to eat.

Can you eat the skin?
Yes. Conference Pear skin is edible. Simply wash the fruit thoroughly before eating.

Why do Conference Pears have brown marks on their skin?
Conference Pears naturally develop areas of brown russeting. This is characteristic of the variety and isn’t necessarily a sign of damage.

How should Conference Pears be stored?
Allow firmer pears to ripen at room temperature. Once ripe, refrigeration can help slow further ripening.

Can Conference Pears be used for baking?
Absolutely. They’re excellent for cakes, muffins, crumbles, tarts and baked desserts.

Are Conference Pears good for poaching?
Yes. Their shape, texture and naturally sweet flavour make them an excellent choice.
